About Ambitions California

Ambitions is dedicated to assisting people with developmental disabilities to achieve the highest practical fulfillment of lifelong ambitions and dreams. To achieve this goal, Ambitions strongly emphasizes the need for personal choice, social involvement, and individualized service.

For most of us, personal choice is something we take for granted. We decide what and where we are going to eat, what color of shirt to put on, and even what kind of toothpaste we want to use. Yet, for many developmentally disabled people, even these most basic choices are never fully exercised. Ambitions is committed to empowering clients with the right to freely express their choices in whatever manner they are able. We recognize that clients must discover the benefits and consequences of their choices as a first step towards autonomy; and that these choices not only increase autonomy, but they demonstrate to others the will and perseverance of a growing spirit.

Adult Residential Facilities

Our California Adult Residential Facilities are licensed to provide 24-hour, non-medical residential support to adults with developmental disabilities who are in need of personal services, supervision, and assistance with essential activities of daily living and self-protection. Our facilities offer support, supervision, and professionally supervised training for persons with deficits in self-help skills, impairment in physical coordination and mobility, and/or severely disruptive or self-injurious behavior.

Specialized Day Program Services

Specialized Day Program services are designed to meet the needs of adult individuals who desire to live a more independent lifestyle. We accomplish this by identifying barriers that limit independence, and then develop individualized supports to teach new skills that eliminate these barriers. Our program encourages individuals to become self-advocates by empowering them to rely on their own dialy decisions.

Supported Living Services

We specialize in community-based services that help developmentally disabled individuals live in their own homes, and in their own communities. It includes 24-hour supervision and support, teaching of daily living skills, maintaining healthy lifestyles, integrating fully into the community, building relationships, and supporting autonomy.

Licensed Day Programs & Activity Centers

Ambitions California partial inclusion day programs and activity center services provides highly supportive learning environments for adults with developmental disabilities who exhibit challenging behaviors.

The curriculum is a mix of different functional components and recreational activities based on each client's abilities, needs, preferences and choice. We recognize that each participant has different expectations in regard to what comprises “a good day,” and therefore strive to provide each individual with experiences that will enhance his/her ability to establish realistic personal goals and make positive personal life choices. The emphasis of the service model is primarily in the development of the basic social and self-help skills that provide participants with constructive engagement.
